About this module
Self-help is powerful, but sometimes it is not enough, and knowing how to navigate professional care is a vital part of mental health literacy. This module explains how to recognise when it is time to seek help, the pathway many people in India follow from family and traditional healers to specialists, and the roles of psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, psychiatric social workers and nurses. You will learn how medication and talking therapies work, what rehabilitation and creative arts therapies offer, what really happens at a first appointment, the vital role of families, and the services and rights available to you, from Tele-MANAS to peer support.
