About this module
Why do some people develop a mental health condition while others in similar circumstances do not? No single cause explains it. This module introduces the biopsychosocial model, which shows how biology, psychology and social circumstances combine. You will look at genetic and physical vulnerability, the lasting effects of childhood adversity and harmful coping, and the social triggers that weigh especially heavily in India: economic insecurity, urbanisation and academic pressure. The stress bucket brings it all together, and shows the 'taps' that every one of us can help to open.
